Meet The Creators

Owners Kadidja Macina and Veronika Gajer joined together January 2021 to start Macina Jewelry. Inspired by Kadidja’s father (Ousmane Macina) and his craftsmanship and dedication to giving back to his community in West Africa. Kadidja and Veronika started Macina to further support sharing designs from around the world, while empowering women by equipping them with skills to become jewelers in their own right, and break through the lack of economic opportunities provided to women in developing countries. 

The Back Story

Kadidja Macina was always inspired by her father’s travels, craftsmanship and dedication to giving back. With a background in fine arts and working as a mental health counselor, Kadidja continues her family's legacy with carrying on as an 11^th generation jeweler while also incorporating motifs near and dear to her -  of wellness and empowering women around the world.

Best friends with Kadidja since the age 8, Veronika Gajer has a background in marketing and branding in luxury goods. With a passion for making the world a better place as well as more beautiful, Veronika joined Kadidja on her journey to carry on her family’s legacy and serves as creative director and co-owner of the brand.
